Mode of Action
Acetochlor
A selective herbicide absorbed mainly through the shoots and roots of germinating weeds. It inhibits cell division by blocking protein and long-chain fatty acid synthesis. Its mode of action involves elongase inhibition and interference with geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate (GGPP) cyclization enzymes, which are part of the gibberellin pathway.
Mesotrione
A selective pre- and post-emergence herbicide that controls a broad spectrum of broadleaf and grassy weeds. It belongs to the benzoyl cyclohexane-1,3-dione class, derived from a natural plant toxin found in Callistemon citrinus (bottlebrush plant).
Mesotrione works by inhibiting the HPPD enzyme, disrupting the pathway that converts tyrosine into plastoquinone and alpha-tocopherol. It is quickly absorbed through foliage and moves both upward and downward within the plant.
Atrazine
A selective systemic herbicide absorbed mostly through roots and also through leaves, moving upward in the xylem and accumulating in growing points and leaves. It disrupts photosynthesis in broadleaf weeds and grasses and is effective when applied either before or after weeds emerge.
